A partial recount of Chicago Heights Mayor Angelo Ciambrone's one- vote victory in last fall's election began Tuesday, ordered after a court challenge by opponent Thomas "T.J." Somer. 

Mansion repairs OKd The DuPage County Board agreed Tuesday to spend $1 million to begin repairs at the Peabody Mansion at Mayslake, apparently ending a long squabble with the Mayslake Landmark Conservancy, which agreed to raise $2 million to rehabilitate the structure. 

Schools given good marks A survey of 156 parents and 305 community residents in Naperville's School District 203 released Tuesday found both groups hold a high opinion of the schools. The strife among rival school board factions did not stop parents and community residents from holding even higher opinions of the school district than when they were surveyed two years ago
